How this tool works
Appliance electricity cost depends on power draw, operating time, and the billed energy rate. This calculator separates kilowatt-hour consumption from monetary cost so each assumption remains visible and adjustable.
Energy in kWh equals watts divided by 1,000 multiplied by hours per day and days. Estimated cost equals energy multiplied by the entered price per kWh.
How to use it
- Enter the appliance's rated or measured wattage.
- Enter average daily operating hours, number of days, and price per kWh.
- Review both energy consumption and estimated cost.
Worked examples
Space heater
- Input
- 1,500 W, 2 hours daily, 30 days, rate 0.20
- Output
- 90 kWh and cost 18
The heater uses three kilowatt-hours each day. Across thirty days that is 90 kWh, multiplied by the entered unit price.
LED lamp
- Input
- 10 W, 5 hours daily, 30 days, rate 0.20
- Output
- 1.5 kWh and cost 0.30
Ten watts is 0.01 kilowatts. Multiplying by 150 operating hours gives 1.5 kWh before applying the price.
